The New Year Sprint has been won by athletes from all walks of life, by the young and not so young, by the fleetest of foot and by gritty front markers.
The outcome of some finals have been a foregone conclusion, others have gone right to the tape.
Here then, is the roll of honour of those athletes who, by good fortune, dedication, ability and sheer hunger for victory, have triumphed in the greatest of professional sprints.
Browse the roll of honour with Select a Decade, or use Winner Search to analyse the Sprint Winners database. Use Winner Search just to locate a particular runner, or perform a more complex search on one or more of town, start (or range of
starts), name and initials.
Search tips
• An empty field matches everything, e.g. an empty "Last Name" field will match all last names.
• A field with a value followed by a "*" matches everything that starts with that value, e.g. a value of "E*" for "Town/Club" matches "Edinburgh" and "Elswick". Note "*" is not valid in the "Start" field.
• The "Start" field can contain a single value, a range of values or a semi-specified range (or no value, of course), e.g. 5m, 5m-10m, -5m (up to 5m) or 15m- (over 15m). The units (m or yds) are optional.
